TINIAN, Northern Mariana Islands – A Tinian airline says plans to open a second service between Guam and the Northern Marianas are still on hold as Guam’s International Airport Authority is continuing

TINIAN, Northern Mariana Islands – A Tinian airline says plans to open a second service between Guam and the Northern Marianas are still on hold as Guam’s International Airport Authority is continuing to give it the run around in opening a terminal.

The availability of a commuter terminal is at the centre of a complaint that Star Marianas Air has filed with the Federal Aviation Administration.

The airline says the terminal is being used by the airport for “non-aeronautical purposes”.

The terminal is leased to United Airlines as a human resource department.

The president of Star Marianas Air, Shaun Christian, says the airline has been told it is not allowed to park its aircraft at the terminal because of safety issues in regards to wingtip clearance hazards.
