Nguyen Minh Hai, who briefly served as the CEO of Bamboo Airways earlier this year, has been appointed as the new CEO of Vietravel ايئر لائنز.
He replaces Vu Duc Bien, who had been leading the company since its inception in 2020 but resigned for personal reasons. Hai has a wealth of experience in the aviation industry, including stints as the deputy CEO of Vietnam Airlines and as the CEO of Cambodia’s Angkor Air. However, his leadership role at Bamboo Airways was short-lived as he left in July.
Vietravel Airlines, which commenced operations in early 2021, has faced challenges in expanding. It currently operates a fleet of only four aircraft and has limited routes.
The airline is actively seeking a strategic investor to facilitate its growth. Notably, the airline has appointed former German vice-chancellor Philipp Rösler as a director to aid in expanding its international network.
To support its expansion plans, Vietravel Airlines intends to issue shares to increase its charter capital from VND1.3 trillion to VND2 trillion and aims to grow its fleet and route offerings in the near future.
