Iran has always been a welcoming country to visitors, even if these visitors come from countries like the United States of America.

Cornered by US sanctions, the Iran travel and tourism industry is getting creative to keep the Iranian Welcome Carpet wide open for American and European foreign tourists.

The latest move by Iran authorities is to not stamp passports presented by foreign visitors to  Iran in order to ease entry rules and also to counter US bilateral sanctions against the Persian country.

The resumption of sanctions against Iran began in May when the US withdrew from the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action known as the Iran nuclear agreement. One of the consequences of Trump’s sanctions against Iran is that those who travel to Iran might face some difficulties afterwards. In order to reduce tourists’ concerns about US sanctions, the Iranian vice president announced that foreign tourists’ passports will not be stamped in Iran. Therefore, foreign tourists will have the opportunity to travel to Iran, enjoy the company of its hospitable and welcoming people, visit its ancient cultural attractions, and enjoy its many natural tourist attractions varying from tall waterfalls to deep canyons.

Ali Asghar Mounesan, Iranian vice president and head of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO) declared that Iranian government will provide protectionist measures to support the tourism industry and those involved in the industry such as hotel owners and travel agencies.

Fortunately, the proposal has been approved by the Iranian police and Foreign Ministry and it awaits the approval of the council of ministers to be put into practice as soon as possible. With no entry or exit stamps on the tourists’ passports, Iran will provide peace of mind for those who want to travel to Iran, the country of friendly people, ancient cultures and intact nature.
