Visitors to the Canadian capital will soon have even more quality accommodation to choose from when the 115-room Le Germain Hotel Ottawa opens later this month.

Le Germain Hotel Ottawa is part of a 23-storey tower nearing completion in the heart of the city, called the Arts Court redevelopment project. The hotel occupies the bottom 14 floors, with the upper nine floors being private condo residences known as ArtHaus by DevMcGill. The project is also the new home of the much-loved Ottawa Art Gallery, which opened its new space in April.

Located at the corner of Daly Avenue and Waller Street, Le Germain Hotel Ottawa is perfectly positioned for sightseeing in the bustling ByWard Market neighbourhood, cruising the historic Rideau Canal, or attending to business meetings at the Shaw Centre. Parliament Hill, the National Gallery of Canada, and a number of the city’s museums and monuments are also just a stone’s throw away.

Le Germain Hotel Ottawa boasts an expansive lobby full of artwork and modern design themed around “light and shadows.” Oversized windows look out onto the downtown street, providing ample light into the space, which is decorated in white, black and grey. Inside the guest rooms, which feature goose-down duvets and feather pillows, there is artwork by Québec photographer Julie Couture. Her black-and-white photos showcase various angles of Ottawa’s landscape and contribute to the overall theme as do the room’s grey ceilings and stylish black blinds.

The hotel’s Norca Restaurant & Bar offers breakfast, lunch and dinner with a Nordic Canadian inspired menu. However, Chef Dominique Dufour and her team choose to cook exclusively with fruits, vegetables and proteins from Canada, ensuring only the freshest of ingredients. In the bar area, guests can relax with classic cocktails, locally produced beers and fine wines.

The new hotel is the second property from the Montréal-based group Germain Hospitalité to open its doors in the capital, following the arrival of the 148-room ‘no frills chic’ Alt Hotel Ottawa in 2016. However the new opening is a debut for the company’s high-end ‘Le Germain’ brand and becomes the seventh such property under that portfolio in Canada.

Le Germain Hotel Ottawa will further strengthen the city’s diverse hotel offering. U.K. visitors to Ottawa can already choose from a wide range of accommodation from intimate boutique properties to state-of-the-art business hotels. Whether seeking the ultimate in luxury or the perfect family hotel, there is something to suit every traveller’s budget.
