“The “Cruise Africa”  brand must be united and bring new cruise ship routes to Africa from north to south,” these are the words by Alain St. Ange, the former minister of tourism, civil aviation, ports & marine in the Seychelles.” We need to sell African Cruise itinerary to cruise ship operators,” St. Ange added.

St. Ange now has his own consulting company and is a partner in the New York-based  TravelMarketingNetwork.

St.Ange Consulting is now representing PAMAESA and in this capacity met with H.E. Auguste Ngomo, the resident representative of the African Union at the Southern African Regional Office (SARO). Mr. Ngomo also represents to Organisation Development Ghana Institute. The meeting took place in Livingstone, Zambia last week.

The Port Management Association of Eastern and Southern Africa (PMAESA) is a non-profit, inter-governmental organization made up of Port Operators, Government Line Ministries, Logistics and Maritime Service Providers and other port and shipping stakeholders from the Eastern, Western and Southern African and Indian Ocean regions.

Both leaders discussed “Cruise Africa”, an important brand to be established for the continent

“We discussed the need for the African Union to be more involved in tourism as a  vital industry for the African Continent”, St. Ange added.”I am happy to report that we discussed the past, the present and the future of our region and AU.The African Union should be the organization that rallies us and cannot ever be the body that goes against all what our forefathers fought to break. Respect and sovereignty must be a guiding principle that is sacred for the continent’s grouping to ensure we are and remain proud. The AU should be more involved in tourism as a vital industry for the African Continent.”

St. Ange was hinting at a dispute he had with the African Union and Zimbabwe when his candidacy for the UNWTO Secretary-General post was canceled due to AU pressure.
