With its cosmopolitan lifestyle and vibrant economy, the Kingdom of Bahrain has become one of the most attractive destinations in the Gulf Region. At the Mövenpick Hotel Bahrain contemporary architecture and interiors are coupled with the latest technology and facilities – everything expected from a 5-star hotel perfectly blended with Arabian tradition and a touch of Swiss hospitality.

Green Globe recently recertified Mövenpick Hotel Bahrain for the sixth consecutive year with the hotel receiving a high compliance score of 81%.

Mr. Pasquale Baiguera, General Manager of Mövenpick Hotel Bahrain said, “Our team works hard throughout the year to achieve sustainable business goals and our aim as a five star hotel is to continue working on capturing sustainable approaches and alternatives that create a better world for ourselves and future generations. It’s such a rewarding and pleasant feeling when we fulfill the Green Globe criteria and receive re-certification each year.”

The Engineering team’s chief target was to reduce water and energy consumed by utilities by 2.5% this year. However, the hotel managed to save electricity usage by 4.38% and water by 7.22% in 2017 as compared to 2016.

To achieve these results, Mövenpick Hotel Bahrain focused on improved resource management starting with the monitoring of energy consumption on a monthly basis. Most recently, the whole lighting system was upgraded to LED lighting with the final changeover of regular lights in public areas to 3.5 W LED. Other energy saving measures include the introduction of an adiabatic cooling system that has been installed in the chillers as well as the regular cleaning and changing of air-conditioning filters. Furthermore, staff are encouraged to take a hands on approach in reducing electricity consumption by adhering to the energy-saving policy of the hotel where lights and equipment are switched off when not in use.

Mövenpick Hotel Bahrain works with animal welfare groups in the community as part of its social initiatives. In addition, each day the hotel donates food leftovers and unused food from kitchens to help local charities and those in need in the Kingdom. Colleagues also participate in Earth Hour annually when all staff gather and switch off lights for one hour as a collective gesture toward alleviating climate change.
