Coronavirus hit the Spanish holiday island of Tenerife. Tenerife is one of the most popular travel and tourism destinations for visitors from Germany, Italy or the U.K. among many other countries. This is only the third Coronavirus case in Spain but 2 patients already recovered.
Tenerife is part of Gran Canaria, a very popular holiday resort spot. It is a part of Spain and only 63 km from the Moroccon Coast. Tenerife was in the news just days ago when a major sand storm stopped the island’s tourism activities and closed the airport, evacuating tourists.
Last night police surrounded a popular holiday resort to make sure no one enters or leaves to control the virus’ spread, but a receptionist says there is no problem. Guests and staff are not allowed to leave the hotel property.

An Italian tourist from Italy’s Lombardy region where several people have died after getting sick on Coronavirus had been staying at the hotel for seven days with his wife. He went to a local health centre on Monday afternoon after feeling unwell for several days.
He has now been quarantined at Nuestra Señora de Candelaria University Hospital in Tenerife’s capital Santa Cruz.
Canary Islands president Angel Victor Torres confirmed late last night. that the coronavirus protocol has been activated for an Italian tourist in the south of Tenerife.
The hotel is packed with tourists mostly from the United Kingdom.
