The Seychelles Minister for Tourism and Culture, Mr.

The Seychelles Minister for Tourism and Culture, Mr. Alain St.Ange, met vendors of the popular Bazar Labrin which is held on Wednesdays on the beautiful Beau Vallon beach near the door to the Savoy Resort and Spa.

Minister St.Ange, along with the Principal Secretary for Tourism, Anne Lafortune, visited the bazaar last week after making his closing remarks at the end of the Seychelles Tourism Board’s mid-year marketing review meeting held at the Savoy Resort and Spa.

While visiting the stalls of Bazar Labrin, Minister St.Ange talked to the vendors who expressed their concerns regarding their businesses.

Most concerns raised related to a cross-section of ministries, and in those cases Minister St.Ange advised the vendors on how they could remedy these issues.

He also assured them of his ministry’s full support to the Bazar Labrin as it is one important aspect boosting the tourism industry.

Bazar Labrin is one of the most popular bazaars held in the country and it attracts a lot of tourists as well as locals alike.

It provides a relaxing stress-free atmosphere where one can unwind after a hard day’s work and enjoy a hearty homemade-like meal away from home.

There one can also buy spices, snacks, and beverages made locally, a wide range of craft works among so many things, which gives a true taste of the Seychelles’ authentic Creole culture.

To add to the unique Creole ambiance, musicians play traditional music such as the sega and moutia. The Minister encourages the local artisans to continue to create “Seychelles Made” products and in so doing keep this local trade alive. “We shall continue to support local artisans. Your work helps increase the yield our country receives from its tourism industry. We need everyone to appreciate the need to give Seychellois products the break it so desperately needs. This break is for our country to see more ‘Seychelles Made’ items in boutiques at our hotels and resorts and to have more artisanal areas dedicated to these products,” the Minister said.
