Speaking after the signing ceremony, the Minister of National Planning, Environment and Tourism Cherif Rahmani said that the contracts were “part of a partnership based on mutual confidence” between the public authorities and investors.

The projects’ overall cost is estimated at 20 billion dinars, that is, a turnover of 3.50 billion dinars.

These tourism-related projects will kick-start in the course of the year 2008 in various regions of Algeria as “poles of excellence”, spawning about 8,000 job opportunities.

Mr Cherif Rahmani indicated that these partnership deals were a first step ahead stressing that further contracts were planned to be concluded with other national and foreign investors in the next few months as part of the Algerian authorities’ ongoing rejuvenation drive in the national tourism sector.
