Jamaica’s Minister of Tourism, Hon. Edmund Bartlett has expressed sadness at the passing of two tourists in Ocho Rios yesterday.
One tourist died from injuries sustained following a motor vehicle accident, while another died suddenly of a heart attack. Both were cruise ship passengers.
“On behalf of all of the Ministry of Tourism and its agencies, I would like to offer my condolences to the family and friends of both visitors, during this very difficult time.
At this time we are unable to divulge any further details but our team is on the ground and in touch with all relevant parties to provide the necessary assistance,” said Minister Bartlett.
The Jamaica Tourist Board and Jamaica Vacations, both agencies of the Ministry of Tourism, have initiated the necessary protocols and will continue to be in touch with the families and authorities.
“Again we are deeply saddened by these two tragic and sudden deaths and wish the family strength and comfort at this time,” added Minister Bartlett.
